Wicked
We couldn’t have been more thrilled to partner with Jon M Chu and Myron Kerstein on our ninth collaboration - this time for Universal Pictures. Our WICKED motion design included the film’s main title, the treated Universal Pictures logo and ultimately the main on end title sequence and end credit cards seen below. For the main title typography, we partnered with Teddy Blanks of ChipsNYC. He hit a bullseye with his beautiful hand-painted main title mark. With sophisticated typographic detail, he lovingly evokes the original “Wizard of Oz” main title while giving the WICKED mark its own specific identity.

Main Title
Our nostalgic design for the treated Universal logo truly grabbed the attention of the filmmakers, Universal Pictures and audiences worldwide. Harkening back to the 1940’s era studio logo which begins in black and white but turns to color mid-animation, our updated version is reminiscent of Dorothy’s own entrance into Oz. As the first “shot” in WICKED, this treated logo fills the audience with a magical, expectant energy and a classic Hollywood aesthetic.
Universal Logo
Following the climactic and emotional conclusion of the film, colorful volumetric lights poetically dance on screen creating a moment of reflection for the audience as they watch our WICKED main on end title sequence.
